Get Out! Northport's Weekend Planner for June 10-12

Clean Beaches Day, movie casting and skateboard tournament. Pick and choose from this weekend's array of events.

It’s Friday! If you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend, Patch is coming to the rescue.

We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.


Where/When: Starting simultaneously at 9 a.m., cleanups will be held at , Gold Star Battalion and Centerport beaches. New this year is a bus to take volunteers to several smaller beaches. The "Clean Beaches Bus Tour" will leave from the municipal parking lot in Northport across the street from the Engeman Theater on Main Street in Northport and will deliver volunteers to Hobart Beach, Asharoken Beach and Scudder Beach.
Why Go: To clean the beaches! 
Pricing: Free. Lunch served at Centerport Senior Center for all volunteers following clean up.


Where/When: ; Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Northport Arts Coalition welcomes you to join a group of landscape painters at work outdoors on Main Street, the Village Green and Northport Harbor. The opening reception of the finished paintings is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a silent auction from 1-3 p.m.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Hempstead High School; Friday, 4 p.m.
Why Go: The feature lacrosse film “Crooked Arrows” will be holding auditions for lacrosse athletes. The movie is backed by an all-star cast and producers will be casting primarily male athletes, 18 and over. Exceptional male and female athletes, 14-17 year olds, are welcome to apply. Athletes under 14 will participate in a skills clinic and may be considered for casting in cameo roles and as extras.


Where/When: ; Saturday, 11 a.m.
Why Go: Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the event will consist of a skateboard tournament for beginners and advanced skaters.


Where/When: ; Sunday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: “Northport Blooms in June” is Northport Historical Society’s annual garden tour. The self-guided tour features several of the Northport area’s finest residential gardens. There will be light refreshments and raffles.
Pricing: The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
