Northport Plays Sachem North In Playoffs Friday

Teams get "Great American Rivalry" 2013 re-match in first round.

Northport and Sachem High School North varsity football teams will get to re-match this year’s Great American Rivalry game in the qualifying round of the playoffs.

The game will take place at Sachem North’s turf at 212 Smith Rd. in Lake Ronkonkoma Friday at 7 p.m.

During their previous game in October, the Sachem’s Flaming Arrows defeated the Northport Tigers 34-20.

Sachem North is going into the game with a 6-2 record with losses only to Commack and William Floyd, who will be playing qualifying round games against Brentwood and Patchogue-Medford respectively on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Northport has a 4-4 record with losses to William Floyd, Sachem North, Connetquot and Commack. Connetquot is also in the qualifying round with a game against Longwood Friday at 6 p.m.
