Two local girls representing Gold Medal Gymnastics Center of Greenlawn took the All Around Medals for Level 5 USAG New York State under the direction of director and head coach Tammy Marshall at the New York State Early Season Championships in Medford on Jan. 28.
Nicole Riccardi, 9, from East Northport scored a 37.9 to earn her Championship All Around Win in the Intermediate Division (9 year old). Nicole finished first place in bars (9.6) and vault (9.5).
Scoring a 37.975, Katie Finnegan, 8, from Kings Park, earned first place in Bars (9.5) and Floor (9.7), second in Beam (9.5) and Vault (9.2), and walked away with the Championship All Around Medal for Juniors (7-8 Years Old).
Both girls are members of the Gold Medal Gymnastic Center Level 5 team that secured a hard-earned first place finish after outshining 25 other teams from around New York State.
Their Level 7 teammates also competed on Jan. 29 and walked away with All Around wins and another Team Championship. Casey Hudson was again victorious, taking the All Around Champion title in the level 7 group at the 25th Annual Pinky Stone Invitational Gymnastics Meet in Syracuse, NY with a total 37.95 score to claim the top spot.
