Islip Honors Northport's Carol Rose

Northport girls lacrosse Coach Carol Rose honored by Islip Town for organizing Lax For Hope Tournament in Oakdale.

Then as part of month, Rose helped organize the Lax For Hope Tournament on the Oakdale Campus of St. John's University. The Oct. 2 event raised $20,000 in conjunction with Beauty for a Cure, according to Town of Islip spokesman Kevin Bonner.

For her efforts, Rose was recently honored by Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan and the Islip Town Council.

“Based on the success of this year’s tournament, Beauty for a Cure has said Lax for Hope will become an annual event in the Town of Islip,” Nolan said. “The tournament, as well as the money it raised for women with breast cancer; it wouldn’t have been possible without Carol’s work.”

Rose is also the founder of the Long Island Elite Yellow Jackets, Long Island’s first travel girls lacrosse team.
