Glenn Girls Basketball Run Ends

Rochester East hands Glenn, 66-49, loss Friday in state Class A semifinals.

impressive run in girls basketball ended two wins shy of a state championship. The Knights fell in the state Public Schools Class A semifinals on Friday afternoon at Hudson Valley Community College in upstate Troy.

Rochester East hit four three-pointers in the first half and Glenn senior Allison McKenna fouled out with nearly 7 minutes left in the game as East beat Glenn, 66-49, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported.

“Rochester was hot and we were not,” Glenn Coach Andy Athanas told Patch.

Freshman Tanna Mohammed, coming off the bench, scored on a putback for Glenn with 6:16 left in the third quarter, closing the East lead to 35-29, according to Newsday.

That was as close as Glenn (21-2) would get. McKenna finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

This was the third trip to the Final Four for Glenn, and the first since 2006.
