Snow Causes Early Dismissal in Northport, Elwood Schools

Due to the area's snow storm, after school activities are also canceled.

Students in the Northport-East Northport School Districts are being sent home early Tuesday due to weather conditions, the school district announced.

Northport High School students were dismissed at 11 a.m. and all elementary schools, except Norwood, were released at 11:55.

Norwood Avenue Elementary School will be released at 12:20 p.m. The middle school will be released at 1 p.m.

Special Education and out-of-district schools were released at 11 a.m.

Students at Trinity Regional School and Long Island Lutheran Day School were dismissed at 11:45 a.m.

Tuesday's snowfall is expected to drop between three to five inches across Long Island through 5 p.m. Roadways have already become slick due to the snow and ice – it is advised to drive slowly for your safety.

All after-school activities and parent-teacher conferences have also been canceled.

In the Elwood School District,students at Boyd Intermediate School were sent home at noon and high school students will be released at 12:45.

Elwood Middle School students will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m.

Harley Avenue Elementary will dismiss its students at 1:45 pm. Afternoon kindergarten is cancelled and morning kindergarten enrichment will have lunch and be picked up at 1 p.m. Afternoon kindergarten enrichment classes will have lunch and remain until regular time, 3:15 p.m. and be picked up by parents. Extended kindergarten with Mrs. Grabber; Ms. Colmone and Ms. Stewart will be dismissing at 1:45 p.m. 
Grades one and two dismissal will take place at 1:45 p.m.

All after-school activities are cancelled, except for Harley Care, which will be open until 4 p.m.
