Photo: Principal For a Day in Elwood

Harley Avenue Primary student experiences life on the other side of the desk.

Second-grade student Ellyn Mayette of Harley Avenue Primary School in
Elwood recently had the privilege of assuming responsibilities for Principal Karen Koliadko during “Principal for the Day.”

Ellyn spent the day with Ms. Koliadko, assisting her with important tasks such as
announcing the winners from the book fair and checking in with the school’s custodian, nurse and cafeteria staff to ensure that operations were running efficiently.

“It’s a lot of work to be a principal! My favorite part is sitting at a big desk,”
remarked the enthusiastic second grader. “I think I will feel sad when I’m back at my little desk in the classroom.”
