New Principal At Boyd Intermediate School

Floral Park Principal Pam Fine will take over for Sharon McCabe, who retired this year.

Pam Fine will replace retiree Sharon McCabe as the new principal of James H. Boyd Intermediate School in September.

Fine brings nearly a decade of educational experience to the , serving as both teacher and administrator in diverse environments. 

Her career began at New York City School District 22 in Brooklyn where she taught first grade, trained teachers in reading instruction, and served as assistant principal for four years at P.S. 207. Most recently, she was principal of the John Lewis Childs School in Floral Park, serving pre-K through sixth grade.

"I commuted every day from Happaugue," she laughed. "This will be so much easier."

Fine earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education from Iona College and the College of Staten Island, respectively, and holds an advanced certificate in administration and supervision from Brooklyn College.

She has met with parents, staff, and some students and said her goal is to ensure that the school is a safe and nurturing learning environment where children receive the best instruction possible.  

“I’m excited to be joining the Elwood School District and the James H. Boyd Intermediate School,” she said. “From what I have learned so far, the faculty, staff, families and community have a vested interest in providing the children of Elwood with an outstanding instructional experience. I am looking forward to contributing to those efforts.”

Boyd third graders and their parents are invited to attend an  on August 24 at the school to meet the staff.
