Glenn Senior Awarded “Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Scholarship”

Michelle Groark could also win $5K for Ronald McDonald House. Voting is through Friday.

Glenn High School senior Melissa Groark was chosen as a winner of the “Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year” scholarship from a pool of more than 40,000 applicants.

Her selection was based on a myriad of factors, including her excellent academic and sporting record, her ability to serve as a leader, and her significant contribution to the community within the past year.

Melissa, not only an outstanding student, has been a four-year starter on the girls varsity Soccer team, as well as a three-year captain. She is a four-time All-County and All-Conference honoree, as well. Melissa plans on attending Cornell University, where she will play on the women’s soccer team. The scholarship will provide her with $7,500 to be used toward her college career.

In addition to the scholarship, Melissa now has the opportunity to give back to the community by donating $5,000 to the Ronald McDonald House charity through the support of the Elwood community.

The district is  encouraging community members to vote for Melissa’s charity by visiting the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Scholarship (SAMMY) website.

The community can vote for her daily through Friday, June 17. The SAMMY student athlete who receives the most votes will earn the $5,000 for their charity.
