Photos: Northport's Class of 2011 Graduates

Those with the last names beginning with A through Lo graduated at 11 a.m. The second half at 1 p.m.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, was the keynote speaker at Class of 2011's graduation for students whose last names begin with A through Lu.

The threat of foul weather necessitated moving the ceremony indoors and splitting the class in half alphabetically. A through Lo graduated during an 11 a.m. ceremony; the rest graduated at 1 p.m.

Congratulations A to Z!

Video and class list to come.

Was the keynote speaker the reason for the sudden decision to switch the ceremony to 11:00 ??? I hope not. But the late connect ed phone call at 9:45 telling the kids to be up at school by 10:00, and the sun was shining, the weather forecast said chance of late day scattered storms, seems funny that the senator didn't speak at the 1:00 ceremony.

What an amazing group of young people who have worked so hard. Unfortunately, Chuck Schumer decided to spew his liberal politico nonsense on a bunch of kids that wanted nothing more than for him to have stayed HOME, and their parents who were held hostage by him and his political monologue. How pathetic that Northport set up outside and cancelled because Chuck decided he could make it for the 11 a.m. time slot. The administrators at NHS should be ashamed. Chuck Schumer did not belong at this venue and if he was asked to speak, his material should have been about our kids, not Bin Laden, not his wife Iris, not his child on a school bus, but OUR KIDS. Shame on NHS Admin, and shame on Chuck Schumer. The only good thing that may come out of this is that any of the few votes him and his party have left in Northport were all nullified by his arrogant presence. CONGRATS TO THE STUDENTS. THEY AND THEY ALONE EARNED YESTERDAY'S CEREMONY ! The best speech of the day goes to Dylan Stevens! Awesome! We were there to hear from the kids, not some has been Senator.
