East Northport Woman is Valedictorian at LIU Riverhead

Jennifer Marie Wamsley, 28, of East Northport graduated with a B.S. in childhood education.

Jennifer Marie Wamsley, 28, of East Northport graduated with a B.S. in childhood education last month as the valedictorian of the class of 2012 at Long Island University, Riverhead. She will continue at LIU Riverhead for her masters in literacy, according to Newsday.

“My experience at LIU Riverhead was extremely valuable in preparing me for future success,” Wamsley said. “I have met so many amazing people who have been supportive and helpful along my journey at LIU. My family and I are extremely proud and thankful for the opportunity to graduate as valedictorian from LIU at Riverhead. This honor proves that hard work and dedication can go a long way.”

This is the second year LIU Riverhead conferred undergraduate degrees. LIU Riverhead opened in September 2006, offering master’s degrees in education and homeland security management. In September 2009, LIU Riverhead launched its first undergraduate program, an upper-division (junior and senior years) bachelor’s degree in childhood education. A second bachelor’s degree in communication studies – new media began in September 2011.
