Biggest Surprise from Tuesday's Election? [Poll]

Two newcomers join Northport BOE; incumbent ousted.

Tuesday's school elections brought plenty of big moments in both Northport-East Northport and Elwood Districts.

In Northport, Board of Education President Stephen Waldenburg, Jr. was re-elected to the board for a fourth term, winning 2,965 votes. Newcomers David Badanes, a local attorney, and Jim Maloney, a financial planner, garnered 2,754 and 2,638 votes respectively for the remaining two open seats, ousting current Board VP Donna McNaughton, who received 2,484 votes.

Budgets in both Elwood and Northport received supermajorities of over 60 percent - Elwood at 72 percent and Northport at 66 percent. A proposition for capital improvements was also approved in Northport.
