Battle of the School Budgets [Poll]

Northport-East Northport School District presented two budgets with different tax levies. Which do you support?

The school administration recently heard the public's opinion on two budget scenarios-- one with a zero percent tax levy increase, and one with a two percent levy increase. The public met them with a divided front.

Under the zero percent option, the district would need to cut $2.7 million from the budget and use $2.2 million from the reserves and $3.4 million from the fund balance, or cut nothing and use $3.5 million from reserves and $4.5 million from the fund balance.

Under the two percent option, the district would maintain all staff and programs in the district but would require the use of approximately $2.2 million in reserves.
