Agenda: Northport BOE Special Business Meeting

7 p.m. meeting in cafeteria of Brosnan Building Monday.

The Northport-East Northport Board of Education will hold a special business and work session meeting at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Brosnan Building Monday.

On the agenda:

A number of students, teachers, and faculty members are being recognized for outstanding achievements. Among them are Business Student of the Month Sarah Watson, Family and Consumer Science Department Student of the Month Sarah Jerome, Social Studies Department Student of the Month Isabel Staccuneddu, School Nurse Kathleen Schildhorn for her extraordinary actions in an emergency medical situation, and Northport High School English Teacher Shannon Craft, recipient of the New York State English Council's Teacher of Excellence Award.

Two presentations are on the schedule. A presentation on the 2012-2013 Social Studies Instruction Initiatives by Social Studies Chairperson Melissa O'Malia and an Energy Services Company presentation by David Newman from ECG and Dan Haffel from JCI. The School District is looking to have the company do an energy survey.

The following resolution are recommended for approval:

  • "BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with the September 19, 2012 Proposition No. 2 establishing a Capital Reserve Fund known as the "Capital Reserve II Fund", the Board of Education approves the funding of said reserve fund by a transfer of its 2011-2012 unassigned fund balance in the amount of $1,000,000."
  • Recommendation to approve Appropriated Reserves, Budget Confirmation and Set Tax Levy for 2012-2013
  • Recommendation to approve an agreement between the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District and Classic Coach subject to preparation of a written agreement approved by District Counsel
  • Recommendation to approve an agreement between the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District and John W. Engeman Theater of Northport subject to preparation of a written agreement approved by District Counsel
