Tell Us: How Is Your Street Doing?

Some streets are clear while others are clogged by snow.

Is your street clear of snow? The blizzard dumped 29 inches of snow on the Town of Huntington, including Northport, on top of a layer of ice. Suffolk County had so much snow that Nassau County and New York State are sending snowplows to assist.

Several Suffolk roadways, from Jericho Turnpike and Long Island Expressway to 25A in Northport were turned into parking lots as the storm moved in Friday. The LIE is still closed Sunday in most of Suffolk.

What about your street? Have you seen plows? Are parked cars making it difficult to road crews to navigate? If someone plowed your street, was it a town truck or a contractor in a pickup truck?

Let us know in the comments. If your street is in need of attention, please identify it.

Not one single plow down Clare Dr, Barry Dr, Selden Dr, Clive Dr and other streets in the area until 11AM Sunday. A town truck finally showed up and guess what..... it got stuck!! What a joke, TOH! How much is it going to cost us to undo this mess!?! Maybe next time you might want to send the plows during the storm instead of waiting 30+ hours later when the snow is heavier. Just an idea.

Went to shovel my parents out on Toga Court...not only has their street not been touched, but they made a WALL OF SNOW 4 feet high in the entrance to the court by plowing all the snow up, thereby blocking ANY access to Toga Court!

Not one plow down 8th Ave in East Northport yet! This is ridiculous and extremely unsafe. Our street is the exit for Pulaski Rd elementary school. What will happen tomorrow when it's time for drop-off?
Ann Beckman February 10, 2013 at 07:17 PM
First Street has been taken care of very well both Friday and Saturday.
Chris February 10, 2013 at 07:18 PM
I heard that the town is not in a rush, as warmer weather (in the 40's) is coming tomorrow and Tuesday. I HOPE that is not the case. While my street was plowed once, prior to 6am on Friday morning, I have not even SEEN a TOH truck yet. And I've been driving around Nport and E Nport, as I have a 4wd truck. Where are these guys?????????????
Chris February 10, 2013 at 07:20 PM
8th ave? I would have thought the grid would have been easy for them to do. How is the rest of the grid?

Farm Hollow Court is still not plowed. And calling 499-0444 is a waste of time. Either busy or you get an authomated voicemail that doesn't even give a name, just an extension. And LIPA was lambasted for not communicating with residentsdueirng Sandy!!

I am live on 8th Ave in E. NPT too and have not seen 1 plow at at all.. Both of my kids take the bus to their schools and it will be a miracle if a bus can make it down the block.. cars can barely make it down the block as it is right now

The residents in the area of Cherry Court/West 6th Avenue/Cherry Street have banded together to clean out. One lane passable, but not much else. There is a bucket loader on Franklin/Georgia right now, but they were there to push the pickup that was assigned to our area out. Once he was out, he booked it out. The bucket loader was in the area still, but I have doubts he will come and finish opening the roads here.

and my doubts were confirmed...they got done with the few streets and then left. Called the 351 number, and they said they would let the garage know, and while there was no one in the cul de sac plowing, they were over on patrician...

MG February 11, 2013 at 02:31 AM
Ice coming in the early AM..more ICE...now the trucks are not only rapidly plowing, but spreading SALT again! :(
Tim February 11, 2013 at 12:23 PM
at 11:45 last night they came down into Cherry Court. The did a decent job on the other side of the street, but not mine. They even sanded, which I was not expecting.
Margaret February 11, 2013 at 04:35 PM
It's Monday now and 8th Avenue still not officially plowed. Street is deep with slush and people are getting stuck.
Lo February 11, 2013 at 09:32 PM
We are on 3rd st. Between Pulaski and 5th and we have have still yet to be plowed or sanded. We are one block over from the TOH highway building on second st, Yet they can't seem to get here. Road conditions are treacherous.
Lin February 11, 2013 at 10:03 PM
