The Northport Board of Trustees voted to increase building permit fees following a public hearing on Tuesday.
An annual fee for towing companies operating in
the village was also approved, as was an increase in street opening permit fees.
Building Inspector Loary Gunn said Northport's permit fee schedule, not previously updated in at least 10 years, will now be competitive. Its structure will more closely mirror that of surrounding municipalities.
Under the new law, a base fee of $100 for residential permits and $500 for commercial permits will be added to existing fee schedules.
The new building permit fees go into effect on March 1, 2013. The new full schedule of permit fees is available in the attached PDF or on the village's website.
