Event Spotlight: Three Public Hearings at Northport Village Board Meeting

Board of Trustees to discuss future of Whales Tale and overriding the two percent tax cap at 6 p.m.

Three public hearings will take place at the Northport Village Board of Trustees meeting at 6 p.m. in Village Hall. 

  • The Board will consider giving itself the authority to override the State's two percent tax cap for the upcoming fiscal year by a 60 percent vote, effective once filed with the Secretary of State. The override would be valid for only one year. See the .
  • The Board will consider amending Village Code governing the marine business district, allowing for "a reasonable expansion of uses that will benefit the residents of the Village and surrounding community and also provide needed revenue to the owners of property located within the Marine Business District," according to the Village's public hearing notice attached to this article as a PDF.   • The Board will consider increasing longevity pay for certain Village employees to "be consistent with longevity pay of other employees" and finds that the service of the affected employees warrants this increase.
