Computer Error Delays Primary Results

An apparent computer error at the Suffolk County Board of Elections has delayed voting results from Tuesday night's 17th District primary, among others.

UPDATE, 11 a.m.: The Suffolk County Board of Elections said that results for the 17th District primary will be available by the end of the day.

Due to Suffolk Board of Election computer errors, Tuesday night's results and others throughout Suffolk County are being delayed until further notice.

Late last night, Riverhead Patch received word from a source that the who were pulling the wrong cards, thereby inhibiting electronic data transfer to BOE headquarters in Yaphank.

According to the source, results are also stored on a physical tape within each voting booth and lined up with the electronic record for accuracy.

When Northport Patch contacted the BOE this morning, they would neither confirm nor deny the error, nor would they say when the votes would be available. We are continuing to monitor this story and will report the results as soon as they are confirmed.
