Krista Kazan, 43, of Hauppauge, was arrested Monday after she allegedly stole a $1,800 purebred dog from a local pet store.

Police say Kazan was identified from security footage as the woman who stole a pug puppy from Yippity Yap pet store on the Elwood/Dix Hills border in February. The dog was reportedly returned to the store by a family member the day after the surveillance photo was released.

Kazan arrested her at her home and charged her with fourth degree grand larceny, a Class E felony. She is due in First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
