Truck Smashes Through Woodbine Retaining Wall

Stopped short of hitting the house below.

A truck stopped short of the house below as it crashed through a retaining wall on Woodbine Avenue late this morning, Northport Police said.

The driver lost control of the delivery truck when his clutch blew as he was travelling up Fox Lane. The truck rolled backwards down Fox Lane and across Woodbine where it smashed through the concrete barrier in front of 217 Woodbine.

The house below was saved from impact when the truck's undercarriage became snagged on the embankment. Northport Police closed the road for an hour and a half as three heavy wreckers struggled to free the truck from its precarious position.
