Suffolk Police Blotter: Pot Posession, Assault, Free Taxi Rides and More

Special DWI prevention efforts for the holidays; arrests and incidents reported by Suffolk County police officers between Dec. 10-17.

Complimentary Rides from Lindy's Taxi for the holiday season:

As part of the county's DWI prevention efforts, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy and Police Commissioner Richard Dormer announced Lindy's Taxi will be offering free rides home to people who are drinking alcohol at bars or holiday parties. Lindy's is offering this free service through New Year's Day in an effort to help ensure safety on Suffolk County's roadways. As an added incentive to not drink and drive, Lindy's has indicated they will provide a free ride back to the bar or holiday party for people who took advantage of the service the evening before to retrieve their cars.

The following arrests were made and incidents reported by Suffolk County police officers between Dec. 10-17:

The following information is taken from the Suffolk County Police Department's crime blotter. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed below. A criminal charge is only an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The following arrests were made between Dec 10-19:

  • A 17-year-old Northport man was arrested in Northport on Dec. 17 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
  • A 30-year-old Huntington Station woman was arrested on Dec. 14 in East Northport and charged with petit larceny for stealing merchandise from an individual.
  • A 25-year-old East Northport man was arrested in Huntington Station on Dec. 16 and charged with assault in the third degree with intent to cause physical injury for kicking and striking an individual. The victim suffered a broken ankle.
  • A 20-year-old East Northport man was arrested on Dec. 15 in Smithtown and charged with criminal mischief with intent to damage property for driving his 1983 Pontiac on the baseball field at the Smithtown School District's administration building.
  • A 17-year-old East Northport man was arrested on Dec. 10 in Commack for unlawful possession of marijuana.
  • A 25-year-old Northport man was arrested on Dec. 12 in East Farmingdale and charged with DWI. First offense.

The following incidents were reported to the Suffolk County Police Department between Dec. 11-15:

  • On Dec. 14 an East Northport woman reported receiving harassing phone messages at her business on Larkfield Road in East Northport.
  • On Dec. 14 someone stole merchandise from on East Jericho Turnpike in East Northport.
  • On Dec. 11 someone stole cash and a cash register from on Fort Salonga Road in East Northport.
  • A woman reported on Dec. 11 that someone stole an air conditioner from her Barre Place residence in Elwood.
