Northport Police Report: Housekeeper Arrested; Father-Of-The-Bride Saved

A housekeeper is arrested after she confesses to stealing a diamond ring, police revive the father of the bride at a wedding after he goes into cardiac arrest, and a run-away heads to Lindenhurst on an alleged search for drugs.

The following information was supplied by theNorthport Village Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Lidia Castellon, 25, of Huntington Station was arrested for third degree grand larceny at the Northport Police Station on Thursday after she confessed to stealing a diamond ring from her employer's home on Highland Ave. 

On Aug. 1, a woman in the home reported her $10,000 engagement ring  from atop her dresser sometime between July 26 and 28.

Castellon was released the same day. Her case has been turned over to the Suffolk District Attorney.

Officers saved the father of the bride from the brink of death at a wedding at St. Philip's Church on Saturday.

Sgt. Thomas Schramm, Officer Len Bruen, Chief Ric Bruckenthal, and Northport Fire Fighters Jay Polla and Capt. Dennis Sheridan responded to the scene and saw a woman in a gown performing CPR on the 66-year-old man. They shocked him once with a defibrillator and he was revived.

The man was transported to Huntington Hospital via Northport FD Rescue where he is reportedly in stable condition.

A man on Maple Ave filed a missing person report on Aug. 9 after his granddaughter ran away. He suspects she is trying to obtain drugs in Lindenhurst.

On Aug. 10, police responded to an elderly man who had fallen on his walk home from Napper Tandy's where he'd had a few drinks. The man was in the middle of his account to the officer when he ceased breathing. The officer at the scene immediately began CPR and awaited Northport Rescue, which transported the man to Huntington Hospital.

On Aug 9., a business owner on Main Street complained that picketing Verizon workers in the vicinity were disrupting sales. When police responded, all the picketers had gone.
