Northport Police Report: Dog Attack; Keg Stolen

Incidents reported between April 4 and 10.

The following was taken from the Northport Police crime blotter.

  • Police responded to Jefferson Avenue to a report a suspicious male on the property. Upon arrival, the complainant reports while outside he observed a unknown tall white male subject walk between his residence. The complainant states that the male subject then looked into the window of his neighbors residence, then fled on foot down the street. The male subject then drove off in unknown direction of travel in a gray vehicle unknown registration. A canvass of the area was conducted to no avail.
  • Someone stole a quarter keg of beer and a tap from Prospect Avenue on April 6. The beer was purchased from Demar Beverage for a fundraiser for "Friends of the Farm" Lewis Oliver Dairy. Beer and tap valued at $200.
  • An anonymous complainant reported an accident on Main Street. The complainant stated that a speeding older gray vehicle (unknown registration) which looked like a Subaru struck a parking meter in front of 172 Main Street. The complainant stated the driver of the vehicle then left the scene. Upon arrival, the undersigned observed the parking meter pole bent down to the ground and the parking meter shattered into many pieces lying in the street and on the sidewalk. A canvass of the area for the described vehicle yielded negative results.
  • A woman reported a dog attack on Turnip Hill Street on April 8. The woman said that on April 5 at 4:30 p.m., her dog (miniature poodle) was attacked by the subject's German Shepard. The complainant stated the German Shepard was being walked on a leash by the subject's son. The complainant further stated that her dog ran into the street and at the same time the German Shepard was charging at her dog while overpowering the subject's son who couldn't restrain the German Shepard. The complainant stated that the German Shepard started mauling her dog until the miniature poodle's intestines and organs were lying on the street. The complainant stated she rushed her dog to the Animal Emergency Services in Commack where they stabilized the dog. The undersigned attempted to contact the Huntington Dog Warden to no avail.
