E. Northport Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession

Michael Walis, 44, was arrested Monday when police found 10 grams of loose marijuana and a joint in his car during a traffic stop in Nassau County.

Michael Walis, 44, of East Northport was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic violations on Monday afternoon after a state trooper found 10 grams of marijuana and a joint in his car during a traffic stop on the Southern State Parkway.

The trooper saw Walis parked on the hazard markings near a tourist information center with a large crack in his windshield. When Walis attempted to reenter traffic, the Trooper pulled him over and was tipped off to two bags of marijuana and a joint by Walis' repeatedly glances at the center console of the car where they laid.

All criminal proceedings will be handled by the Nassau County First District Court.
