Crimes Nearby: Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Alleged DWI Crash

Greenlawn 

An East Northport woman was critically injured last Friday night when her motorcycle collided with a car on Pulaski Road in Greenlawn. 

Suffolk County police said Karen Labarbera, 52, of East Northport, was operating her 2002 Honda motorcycle east on Pulaski Road when Connie O'Hara, 51, of Huntington collided with her while trying to make a left turn onto Butterfield Drive. The crash happened about 7:15 p.m.

Labarbera was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police helicopter. She sustained head and left leg injuries and is listed in critical condition.

O’Hara was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Huntington Station

Suffolk County police are looking for two people who stole perfume and cologne from a store at Walt Whitman Shops.

 The pair went to the Sephora store about 4:35 p.m. on Aug. 25; the man removed the items from a shelf and put them in a bag. Police said the man and woman then fled without paying.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

Melville

A Melville man was arrested Monday and accused in a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist earlier in the day, Suffolk County police said.

Albert Dibernardo, 28,  was identified as the driver, Suffolk police said.  Dibernardo was charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting involving a fatality. 

The victim, who was identified asRicardo Fernandez, 44, of  Amityville, was spotted by a motorist on Express Drive North in Dix Hills, a quarter of a mile east of Burrs Lane, who then notified Suffolk police about 10:05 a.m
