Huntington

Michael Lewenson from Commack was arrested in Huntington for 2nd degree aggravated harassment to communicate/alarm.

Luke Sorensen from Huntington was arrested in Huntington for disorderly conduct – obscene language/gestures.

Hauppauge

William Leon, 52, of East Northport, was arrested in Hauppauge on Aug. 5 and charged with three counts of grand larceny for property value exceeding $1,000.

Commack

Multiple tires belonging to a tractor trailer parked at a lot in Commack were flattened sometime between 10:30 p.m. on July 30 and 6 p.m. on July 31, Suffolk County Police said. The vehicle was parked in a lot located at the corner of Commack Road and Genesee Drive.

Smithtown

Michael Frank, 19, of Smithtown was arrested Aug. 9 in Smithtown and charged with resisting arrest, third degree burglary, and three counts of third degree criminal mischief. Reports state Frank was arrested after he allegedly kicked the windshield of a 1999 Jeep on North County Complex at approximately 2 p.m

Hicksville

The Eighth Squad reported the details of the arrests of two men for grand larceny that occurred on Wednesday at 12:35 p.m. in Hicksville.

According to detectives the two defendants, Jonathan Dixon 27, of 236 Parkway Boulevard, Wyandanch and Michael Hayden 21, of Andrews Avenue, Roosevelt entered the Verizon Wireless store at 756 South Broadway where they requested information about iPhones. When the employee stepped away from the counter, the defendants broke the glass display case and removed two Iphones. The defendants fled the store and were stopped a short time later by a Second Precinct police officer on the entrance ramp of the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway and arrested.

The defendants were both charged with grand larceny fourth-degree and criminal mischief third-degree.

Suffolk County

Suffolk County police issued 1,109 summonses for cell phone use and texting while driving as part of a distracted driving initiative held the first week of August, calling the special enforcement effort a success.

The project also resulted in 1,600 other summonses being issues as well for vehicle and traffic law violations, and the arrest of 78 drivers during traffic stops.
