Crime Log: Northport Police Find Stolen Vehicle

The driver previously had his permit suspended three times for drug charges.

Northport Village Police discovered a stolen vehicle Nov. 11 during a traffic stop.

According to police, an officer observed a driver of a 1995 Toyota bearing a New York registration traveling south on Church Street when he crossed over the white shoulder line on the road.

After checking the registration, it was determined to be a stolen vehicle, as cited by the Nassau County First precinct.

Police said the driver, Cleveland Hodges, 32, had no identification. He was arrested.

Nassau police then determined that the Hodges' expired New York driver's permit was suspended three times for possession and/or the sale of drugs. 

Hodges was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony. He was also charged with criminal possession of  a stolen vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and given a summons for an unsafe lane change.
