Crime Log: Burglar Used Sledgehammer to Break Store Window

Cocaine arrest

Northport Village Police arrested a Greenlawn woman on a charge of possession of a controlled substance after an officer observed her exhibiting erratic behavior inside of her Jeep with two other passengers in the Napper Tandy’s parking lot. After the woman pulled out of the establishment, the officer performed a car stop, in which the woman admitted to using cocaine. She also admitted to having prescription pills in the vehicle. The officer conducted a search of the vehicle, which yielded oxycodone pills in an improper container within the center console.

Police responded to a domestic dispute within a resident on Scudder Avenue Oct. 1 at 12:37 a.m. The 911 caller told police that he and his girlfriend has an argument about their wedding plans.

Window Smashed with Sledge Hammer

Northport Village Police said a burglar used a sledgehammer to smash the window of a jewelry store (22 Main Street) on Main Street in Northport Oct. 3. The business owner told police that several pieces of jewelry had been taken.

“Pornographic Noises” Prompt 911 Call

A resident called 911 Oct. 3 after allegedly hearing “pornographic noises” coming from a green station wagon on Laurel Avenue, according to police. An officer checked the area, but the vehicle and driver were gone upon arrival.
