Northport VA to Introduce Wall of Wars

A dozen monuments will be constructed to honor military service in all of America's wars.

On Friday, the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center will hold a Veterans Day cerenony to introduce the construction of the Wall of Wars monument, which will honor military service from every war in America's history.

The Wall of Wars will feature 12 granite monuments, each depicting a period of war in America’s history: the American revolution, War of 1812, Indian Wars, The Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Global War on Terror.

Veterans, their families, friends and supporters will be able to walk along the wall to reflect on the country’s history and those who sacrificed to make it.

The building of the Wall of Wars is the final stage of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Garden project, which began in 2009.

The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Nov. 8.
