Northport Fire Chief Named Firefighter of the Year

Joe Pansini rescued a husband and wife who became trapped under a vehicle during a flood in June.

Joe Pansini, chief of the Northport Fire department, was named the Firefighter of the Year by the the Town of Huntington Fire Chiefs' Council after his quick action saved the lives of a local couple.

On June 7, 2013, Pansini risked his life to save a husband and wife who were trapped underneath a vehicle after a sudden storm surge and flood on Main Street in Northport Village. Pansini went underwater to pull out the two victims and get them to land.
