Wednesday, Dec. 15: Budgets, Core Cutting and More

A roundup of things that might be good to know today.

It's Wednesday and it's almost winter and it's freezing, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of ways to be involved in our community today.

Here are a few ideas for Wednesday, Dec. 15:

  1. I'm not sure what this is, but it sounds very interesting: a cord-cutting workshop with bowl burning. Huh? Further investigation reveals it's a method of learning to "let go of the things, relationships, and negative feeling that no longer serve you in your journey towards a more positive and happy life." At the Feelin' Groovy Day Spa. More info here: http://patch.com/E-cbP1
  2. I would probably go to that previous event if I didn't need/want to go to the third and final Northport Village Board of Trustees budget workshop at 5 .m. The trustees are preparing the fiscal year 2011 budget, which goes in to effect March 1. The public is invited to attend. More info here: http://patch.com/E-cqqS

  3. I will also be attending the Town of Huntington's Planning Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. More info about that here.
  4. The will host a weekly Al-Anon meeting for family and loved ones of alcoholics. More info here: http://patch.com/E-cnjv

  5. The Northport Patch gift guide will be posted later today. It's a round up of cool things, in my humble opinion,  that can be found in 11731 and 11768.
