Northport Tuesday Family Fun Nights Return

Tuesday will be the new Saturday night in Northport throughout August with the return of 's Harbor Family Fun Nights along Main Street.

Beginning on Aug. 7, Main Street will be closed off from Union Place to Woodbine Avenue from 6-9 p.m. each Tuesday and filled with people, classic cars, concerts, outdoor dining, and more. Each night has at least one themed event for families to participate in and plenty of live bands for all musical tastes. See photos from last year's event .

The fun starts with a crazy hair/hat contest on Aug. 7 featuring music by DJ Tommy Bruno and performances by the . "Liverpool Shuffle," a Beatles cover band, will play music by Skippers and the Northport Jazz Band will play by Heartichoke.

Performers from The Rock Underground rock music school will take center stage on "Glee Night" Aug. 14. Groups of four or more kids and teens can participate in a Glee dance contest to their favorite songs, provided they bring their own music. Rock band "Midnight Blue" will play by Skippers.

"Northport Idol" is the theme for Aug. 21 where participants sing their favorite popular or original songs. The , rock band "Bitter End," and jazz band Glenn Baldwin and Friends of Jazz will also perform throughout the night.

Aug. 28 is a "Dancing with the Stars" contest for children, adults, and couples where participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite celebrity. Student from Rock Underground music school will cap the night with a Michael Jackson performance. Jazz band "Nina Etcetera" and rock band "Crisis" will also perform throughout the night.
