Northport Memorial Day Guide 2012

Hello and welcome to the Memorial Day edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

1. Weather: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. West wind between 3 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

2. Northport Memorial Day Parade & Services: Organized by the , the parade will begin at the Laurel Avenue School and proceed down Main Street to where a ceremony will take place.

3. East Northport Memorial Day Parade: Organized by the Father Judge Counil Knights of Columbus, the East northport parade will begin at Clay Pitts and Larkfield Roads at noon and proceed to .

4. Map of Northport War Memorials: There are eight war memorials along the Northport parade route commemorating all but the American Revolution. Check out a map .

5. Trash Pickup Changes: Trash pickup in Northport and Huntington are pushed back one day. There is no yardwaste collection scheduled this week. Yardwaste will be collected during the week of June 3.
