Northport High School Senior Lauren Doherty was crowned Miss Long Island Teen 2013 during a ceremony at Nocello's Restaurant in Northport Wednesday night.
She received a crown made of Austrian crystals and a satin sash and will now assume all the duties of Miss Long Island Teen 2013, such as making appearances at special events.
Doherty was the 1st runner-up winner of the Miss Long Island Teen beauty pageant in Patchogue this past August. She assumed the crown because winner Nikki Orlando of Smithtown won Miss New York Teen USA a few weeks ago and will now wear the crown as winner of that competition.
Thirty one young women competed for the LI crowns in August in the Teen and Miss divisions.
