A rundown of family-friendly events this weekend.

It's Friday and you have no idea what to do this weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue with the best bets around town.

The Minstrel Players Present Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol": "A Christmas Carol" is adapted from the Charles Dickens novel by Ray and Tara Palen. Debbie Palen is directing this production. The cast features Ray Palen as Scrooge and many Minstrel Players veterans in various roles - Stephanie Leinoff, Jim Connors, Michael J. Freed, Karen Mercorella and Emma Canfora. Additionally, the large cast features many newcomers to the Minstrel stage including a group of children/teens ranging in age from 5 to 17, who all perform in various roles. The 'World Class' crew is rounded out with Robert Cashman - Technical Director, Bernie Caprera - Lighting Director, Esteban Lopez - Stage Manager and Liam Vollmer - Stage Crew. Friday and Saturday at 8 P.M. and a 3 P.M,. matinee on Sunday at 130 Main Street. $15

A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story of Christmas: Michael Wilson’s adaptation is a creative re-telling of Dickens’ classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, the heartless miser who discovers the true meaning of the holiday season after a Christmas Eve haunting.  Featuring Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, this story of love and redemption is both a chilling ghost tale and a heartwarming holiday event for families and people of all ages. Fri. at 8 p.m., Sat. at 3 p.m .& 8 p.m., Sun. at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. at Engeman Theater. $65

Long Island Accordion Night: Soprano vocalist Connie Shakalis and accordionist Dominic Karcic will perform favorites from Broadway, opera, and jazz. The Long Island Accordion Alliance meets at La Villini every first Tuesday evening of each month. 7 p.m. Friday at La Villini Family Style Italian Restaurant.

Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer: Christmas has been cancelled! Or at least, it will be if Santa can't find a way to guide his sleigh through a  fierce blizzard. Fortunately for him, there's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Shunned by the other reindeer because of his glowing nose, Rudolph becomes a hero when he guides Santa through the storm and enables him to deliver Christmas presents to children all over the world. Saturdays at 11 a.m. and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at Engeman Theater. $15

Mediumship Demonstration & Toy Drive: Psychic Medium Winter Brook Ryan will host a gallery-style demonstration of mediumship which will center on linking attendees to loved ones who have passed over to the spiritual world.  Space is limited to 20 people.  Coffee and dessert will be served.  The price is $35 per person or $25 per person plus an unwrapped toy.  The toys will be distributed to children living in the Breezy Point area whose lives were impacted by Hurricane Sandy in the hope of making their holiday season brighter.
