County Issues Bacteria Advisory For Northport Beaches

Health Department warns of a potential bacteria increase from stormwater runoff.

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services issued an advisory Monday against swimming in , , and  because of a potential increase in bacteria from stormwater runoff. Price's Bend and Valley Grove beaches in Eaton's Neck are also affected. 

According to the County, the waters at affected beaches should be safe to swim in within two tide cycles, or about 24 hours, after the rain has stopped.

Northport received about 3.84 inches of rain on Sunday according to the National Weather Service. A 30 percent chance of thunderstorms remains throughout Monday evening, followed by clouds on Tuesday, until the sun finally breaks through on Wednesday.
