Plans Submitted for Former Gas Station

Planning Board awaits response from applicant.

A new gas station and convenience store may take the place of the shuttered Delta Station at 85 Fort Salonga Road if plans are approved by the Northport Village Planning Board.

Applicant "294 Petro Realty Corp," based in Babylon, presented the plans about a month and a half ago, said Northport Village Administrator Gene Guido. The village engineer and planning board have reviewed the plans and they have been resubmitted to the applicant with comment. The planning board is now awaiting a response.

The former Delta gas station was the site of an underground waste oil spill in 2006 and 2007 and has been closed for at least nine years. Guido said that the site has reportedly been deemed clean by the Department of Environmental Conservation, although supportive documentation should be provided as plans move forward.
