Huntington Turning Into a Hotspot in May For Creators of Haiku

Month-long contest invites submissions as part of art program.

Sparkboom, the town of Huntington and the Huntington Cultural Affairs Institute are inviting submissions for a haiku contest about life and living in Huntington.
 
The contest, which ends May 31, is open to poets and artists or teams of poets or artists, ages 18-34 years old, who reside in either Nassau or Suffolk Counties. Huntington residents will get preference in the selection.

Related graphic and video material is also welcome.

From 6 to 12 haiku submissions are expected to be selected for presentation on 8.5” x 13” street signs.

 An honorarium of $100 will be paid for each haiku selected, with an additional $50 honorarium if related graphic and or video material is also used.
