Celebrate Spring with the Northport Symphony Orchestra

Free performance Friday at Northport High School.

Celebrate the brilliance of spring with the Northport Symphony Orchestra Friday as they perform a free concert at Northport High School at 8 p.m.

The Northport Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of Richard Hyman. The concert will feature cellist Alec Maire, who will play the first movement of the Cello Concerto in D Major by Franz Joseph Haydn. The Orchestra will also perform works by Mozart and Dvorak, as well as Symphony No. 99 by Haydn.

Maire is currently a senior at Cold Spring Harbor High School.  He has studied the cello since the age of four, and added the string bass to his studies several years ago.  He has performed in a number of youth orchestras, including the All Eastern Honors Orchestra and the New York Youth Symphony, and is a member of the Tri-M National Honor Society for Music.  He intends to double-major in cello performance and engineering in college.

Donations accepted; all proceeds benefit the Northport Symphony Orchestra.  No tickets are necessary for this free concert.
