Artist Brian Davis at LaMantia Gallery Saturday

Meet painter renowned for exquisite floral portraits while helping to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Saturday night.

Art lovers will have the  unique opportunity to meet Brian Davis, an oil painter renowned for his exquisite floral portraits  at this Saturday, May 21, from 7 to 9 PM.  All are welcome to attend.

“They are breathtaking,” gallery co-owner Robert Bluver said of Davis’ luminous large scale paintings of roses, orchids, dahlias and other flowers which capture these botanical beauties at their peak of perfection.  Davis’ work is much sought-after and can be found in museums and private collections around the world, Bluver said, adding that Davis previously visited the Northport gallery a few years ago.

According to Davis’ website, the artist who resides in Reno,  Nevada was influenced by the Dutch Masters as well artists of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. The hallmark of Davis’ work is its color intensity, which is achieved through the creation of multiple paint layers, a technique called value painting.

Davis’ mastery of this technique and his attention to subtle value changes is such that his paintings appear to be “lit from behind,” co-owner James LaMantia said, adding,  “It has that kind of luster.”

LaMantia and Bluver have made it a habit to link exhibit openings with charitable fundraisers, and this time they have chosen the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Those who write a check for $50 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be entered into a raffle drawing. The prize?  A limited edition canvas of “Rose Garden at the Huntington,” which has a value of $1200.  The winner will be chosen that night.

To RSVP, call (631) 754-8414.  To see more of Davis’ work, visit www.lamantiagallery.com.
