The International Space Station will be visible in and around Northport Monday night, according to NASA.

The station will appear in its orbit in the southwest at 10:23 p.m., achieving a maximum height of 87 degrees as it travels northeast.

It is the third-brightest object in the sky behind the sun and moon, and is easy to see when you know where to look, according to a website that offers email alerts when it is set to pass overhead.

"The space station looks more like a fast-moving plane in the sky, though one with people living and working aboard it more than 200 miles above the ground. It is best viewed on clear nights."

Monday's storms may clear in time, according to the National Weather Service. Chance of showers are due to decrease as the night goes on, with mostly cloudy skies changing to mostly clear.
