Get Out! Northport's Weekend Planner for May 6-8

Wondering what to do this weekend? Patch is coming to the rescue. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.


  • Where/When: ; Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    Why Go: It’s a free viewing of the Academy Award-Winning film, starring Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush (Rated R).
    Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: ; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Why Go: In addition to an open house for the LuHi Summer Program, there will be fun games, rides and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
    Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: ; Friday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    Why Go: Attend the Northport Public Library Teen Services Department’s Fashion Show: A Passion for Fashion and see prom dresses from Betsey Johnson and other prom styles from Veronica Rayne. In addition there will be entertainment by Northport High School’s a capella singing group, The Multi-Colored Ties. The library is also accepting donations of new or gently-used/cleaned prom dresses for donation to the Tri-Community & Youth Agency in Huntington.
    Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: Grateful Paw Cat Shelter; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Why Go: Support The League for Animal Protection of Huntington (LAP) by perusing donated items like housewares, garden items, electronics, books, toys and more. All proceeds go directly to the care of LAP animals. If you’d like to donate items, they can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
    Pricing: Free admission.
  • Where/When: Brosnan Administration Building Saturday and Sunday
    Why Go: To see a great show and support community theater.
    Price: Student and Senior tickets are $12 each; Adult tickets are $18 each.

  • Where/When:

    Why Go:
    To enjoy an evening of art, refreshments and live music by Laura Meade and John Galgano.
