At a press conference Wednesday, Huntington Town Board members vowed to fight back and hold their ground on the new regulations, saying that they are meant to address the documented quality of life issues presented by convenience stores, such as increased traffic.

"We continue to stand by the regulations we have passed," Supervisor Frank Petrone said. "We feel they are on solid ground and we've done what is important for the communities. We’re not restricting any of these stores."

Though the Nocello's property is located just outside of Northport Village's jurisdiction, the village was instrumental in precipitating the town's 25A corridor study which yielded findings in support of the new regulations on convenience store development.
