Asharoken Puts on July 4th Show

Watch Grucci fireworks display light up Independence Day.

Roadways clogged, waterways filled with flotillas and area beaches overflowed with friends and families intent on seeing Independence Day dispatched with a bang Thursday evening.

They weren't disappointed. While the Grucci fireworks display put on by Asharoken Village was the main event, small fireworks celebrations lit up the night sky throughout the Town of Huntington, from Eatons Neck and the Pitt to Centerport, Huntington Bay and beyond.

Suffolk Police closed Waterside Ave. leading to Crab Meadow Beach -- a prime fireworks watching spot -- more than an hour before the show began and marine units were prominent throughout Northport Harbor and Huntington Bay.

Everything went off without a hitch. Even the weather cooperated with a cool summer breeze.

All that was left was to kick back and enjoy the show. Watch the video highlights on Patch.
