Northport Field Hockey Team Makes Strides Against Cancer

Local teens raise $2,000 for breast cancer education and research.

The Northport varsity and junior varsity field hockey teams took part in the Jones Beach Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk Sunday, raising $2,000 for the organization.

The teams participate in the walk each year. Junior varsity coach Christina Martinez Margiore, said the girls took it upon themselves to surpass their personal fundraising goals and encouraged friends and family to get involved, as well.

One player, Maggie Fox, created pink loom bracelets, raising $100 from her craft.

“They really did an amazing job fundraising and I was really proud of their efforts,” the coach said.
