Northport Grad Sets Village Record in Cow Harbor 10K

Lianne Farber, 21, finished the race in 35 minutes and 6 seconds.

A new local record was set Saturday when Northport resident Lianne Farber ran the fastest time of any village resident in Cow Harbor race history.

The 21-year-old, who graduated from Northport High School in 2010, finished the 10-kilometer run in 35 minutes and 6 seconds.

She placed eighth overall in the women's race.

Farber now runs for the University of North Carolina. She flew back into town however to compete on her home turf on Saturday.

"I knew I would be running against people considered the elites, but I wasn't worried," she said.

Farber suffered a leg injury last season, but she's now back and running with her university team.

Setting records isn't anything new for the local runner. As a teenager, she set the school record in the 800-meter race.
