Elwood-John Glenn High School was constructed in 1962 for less than $1 million and named for the NASA astronaut whose…More flight around the earth took place during the construction of the school. Its first senior class of 72 students graduated in June 1963.
A bond referendum was approved in 2004 to not only renovate the high school and bring the facility up to American Disability Act standards, but also redesigned and refurbished the grounds and athletic fields.
The district also recently embarked on a complete renovation of the technology available to students, faculty and staff. Some of these changes included computers in every classroom and new computer labs with printers.
Since 2004, the district has also expanded course offerings to included honors level courses, expanded elective course opportunities, introduced a new full-time science research program with an introduction to science research class, restructured our Foreign Language program, added an adventure education program, developed a research writing student handbook, realigned curriculums, and expanded the business and art course offerings.
