Besides daily weekday…More celebration of the Eucharist and weekday offerings of the Mass, the church provides all manner of religious education for both children and adults and faith- and care-based ministries,  including peace and justice committee, reconciliation for divorced Catholics, and reunion counseling for lapsed members of the faith.<br /><br />St. Philip Neri has been part of the Northport community for more than 115 years. The parish also serves parts of the neighborhoods of Great Neck and Fort Salonga. It was founded in 1894 by Father Maurice Fitzgerald who chose the name to honor St. Philip Neri on whose feast day, May 26, he was ordained in Rome six years earlier. Construction started almost immediately on the original wood Gothic church which seated 500 people and stood on the site of the current church.<br /><br />The current church, built in 1969 in the New England Colonial style, can seat 900 people. Its unique stained-glass windows use mostly grays and pastels with only touches of bright accent color.</p> <p> </p>
