This Japanese restaurant, located across from the harbor, features a four-seat sushi bar amid an atmosphere enhanced by wood paneling and traditional art.

Menu choices include a full range of Japanese dishes -- sushi and sashimi, tempura and noodles, along with a number of special rolls, including cooked rolls such as the Boston roll, which features cooked shrimp, cucumber and lettuce with rice on the outside. The restaurant also uses organic chicken in several of its chicken dishes.

Salads and appetizers include sunomono, a sweet vinegared cucumber dish with crab, shrimp or octopus; traditional dumplings; and, channeling a hint of New Orleans, a flash-seared Cajun-seasoned tuna or salmon carpaccio with horseradish sauce. Beer and wine are served.

For lunch, Benkei offers a bento box served with miso soup and salad, along with sushi-bar offerings such as chirashi (raw fish over a bowl of sushi rice), a selection of rolls and a sashimi platter. There are also tempura and teriyaki lunch specials.
