Veterans Day; Musical 'Carnival'

A look at upcoming events and activities in Northport this week.

Happy Veterans Day to all of Northport's former and current service men and women. We thank you for your service.

Those who wish to pay homage to those who gave their service to this country, can do so by visiting Veterans Plaza Park at Walsh Park (Larkfield Road, East Northport). A new bench was dedicated on Sunday to resident Frank Minnock, a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and veteran of three wars. Look out for more on this story later today.

Residents can also pay their respects to both the fallen and those who gave their service to their country at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Garden at the Northport VA. A new monument, the Wall of Wars, will soon be installed at the garden to honor all service men and women who have served in U.S. wars. We'll have more on this story later today.

A portrait art show is taking place all week at the Northport Library Gallery, (151 Laurel Ave., Northport). More than 50 works by artist Linda Watson are on display for the month of November.

Tickets are now on sale for the Northport Community Theater's production of 'Carnival.' Don't miss this colorful, entertaining, lively love story and carnival brought to life at the Brosnan Building (school admin building), 158 Laurel Ave., Northport, this weekend. For tickets, call 631-896-5970.
